Booker and Social Media Win Big

Cory Booker becomes the 4th African American to serve in the US Senate since Reconstruction.

Booker rode the wave of social media to gain name recognition and notoriety as mayor of one of America’s most historically challenged cities. Measuring the blight, murder rate and unemployment rate of Newark over the decades and none would predict the successful ascension of a bold charismatic mayor to national stature. But that was before 24 hours news, addictive late night talk shows, Twitter and Facebook. Booker maximized his communication skills and pared them with bold ideas never fearing failure of being misunderstood or challenged by those who desperately wanted and needed him to succeed in the mundane or grueling work of America’s mayors.

Booker succeeded in stepping up to the Senate and as such he has a new opportunity to help Newark and communities like Newark in New Jersey and America.
